Felony Charges

A felony offense in the State of Illinois is any offense that is punishable by a year or more in the Illinois Department of Corrections.  

A felony conviction cannot only lead to prison time.  A felony conviction can severely damage future employment opportunities and can prevent you from enjoying rights in life that non-felons take for granted.

It is very important to remember:

Just because you are charged with a felony offense, it does not mean that you are going to prison or taking a felony conviction on your record.  

Being charged with a felony offense can cause much stress and uncertainty to defendants. People often are frightened by the high possible penalties.  The key to remember is that they are only possible penalties.  There are many other options to be explored depending on one’s criminal history, the facts in the case, and the defendant’s willingness to make positive changes in their life.
